Former Full Professor at Universidad de Los Andes, in Mérida, Venezuela, where he founded and directed a research group on Chaos and Complex Systems for many years. Supervisor of dozens of PhD, MSc, and Licenciatura thesis. He has been awarded several academic prizes in Venezuela. Invited researcher at various universities. He was a Senior Associate of the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy; and a current Associate Member of ICTP-South American Institute for Fundamental Research, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
